Ray Walter Cox

Mr. Cox was born August 4, 1926 in Bartow County, Georgia son of the late Rev. Walter Jackson Cox and Leitha Lillian Fowler Cox. He was retired from Lockheed and was a farmer. He was a member of New Zion Baptist Church in Acworth, Ga. and was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Navy. He enjoyed his family, Church and farming.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Arvelie Prather Cox; a daughter, Tara Prouty and husband Joe; grandchildren, Charissa Smith and husband Brian, Brandon Martin and wife Shannon, Tracey Prouty and wife Jecca, Haley Rose Prouty; great grandchildren, Taylor Smith, Trey Martin, Addie Martin; 2 brothers, Rev. Rex Cox and Roy Cox; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday morning September 1st at 11:00 a.m. at New Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Rex Cox officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Owen Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will include Brandon Martin, Tracey Prouty, Joe Prouty, Brian Smith, Brett Miller, Terry Scoggins.
