Rex Hitchcock

Rex is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Martin Hitchcock and Nancy Octavia Cantrell Hitchcock of Taylorsville, GA, three brothers, Donald, Joel and Larry Hitchcock; sisters, Myra Stone and Faye Samples.

Rex was born February 17, 1937 in Bartow County. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Cleta Myrle Huggins Hitchcock; a son, Gary Hitchcock; daughter and son-in-law, Tammie and Tommy Stepp; grandchildren, Chassity Hitchcock, Darren and Jessica Stepp; sister, Delane Culver; brother, Benny Hitchcock; great grandchildren, Alisa, Brookland and Logan Helton; niece, Iris Maeger; and nephew, Jeff Hitchcock.

Rex was a member of Crosswalk Nazarene Community Church in Cartersville, GA. Rex worked many years for Lewis Carpets and later retired from Ryder Service Center in 1996 where he was employed as a body repairman. He also worked for Crest Auto, Nye Trucking and Butch Thompson Trucking. He also enjoyed working from home for many years.

Rex’s favorite hobby was fishing. He also enjoyed working and helping others. Rex will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM, Thursday, May 9, 2013 from the Chapel of Owen Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Milbern and Rev. Lonnie Martin officiating.

Serving as pallbearers are Lonnie Martin, Charles Greenway, Terry Huggins, Robert Pollard, Robert Brown and Randall Kirkland.

The family will receive friends 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Wednesday, May 8, 2013 from Owen Funeral Home.
