Bob lived a life defined by service. He honorably served in the United States Navy as a Vietnam veteran and was a survivor of the explosion aboard the USS Forrestal. He later continued his military service in the Air Force Reserves, retiring in 2011. His commitment to service extended into civilian life through a long career in law enforcement, including with the Kennesaw Police Department, from which he retired in 2003.
Outside of his professional life, Bob found fulfillment in tending to his garden, volunteering at church, and honoring fellow service members through his involvement with the Patriot Guard Riders and the Metro Atlanta Police Emerald Society (MAPES). Even in retirement, he remained dedicated to service, community, and quiet acts of support for others.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Maloney; his daughter Katie and son-in-law Jamie, and grandchildren Riley and Lily; his son Don and daughter-in-law Stephanie, and grandchildren Wade, Reagan, and Brynn; and his son Mike and daughter-in-law Teresa, grandchildren Laura and her husband Matt, Garrett and his wife Emily, and Ericka, and great-grandchildren Grady, Ethan, and Ruth.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, March 2, 2026, at Crosspoint City Church in Cartersville, Georgia. Visitation with family will take place from 1:00–2:00 pm, followed by the Celebration of Life service at 2:00 pm. Bob will be laid to rest at Georgia National Cemetery at a later date, to be determined by the family.
