

Ron was born on June 4, 1951 in Cartersville, GA, son of Bonnie Sue Dickson Murphy and the late John Earl
Murphy.
Ron was as member of Cartersville High School, class of 1969 and also attended West Georgia College. After college, he worked for many years at Godwin Distributors in Douglasville. Ron was an entrepreneur at heart and until his recent retirement, was the owner of Ladies Fitness in Cartersville where he knew and loved so many of the ladies he met there. The family would like to acknowledge those wonderful ladies, dear friends and much loved family members who visited him of late and brightened his last days. Your smiles and words of encouragement meant more than can be expressed to him and his entire family.
Ron is preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Rob Haddon.
He is survived by his son, Ben Murphy and his mother, Trisha Murphy; mother, Bonnie Sue Dickson Murphy; brother, Tony Murphy; sisters, Linda (Andy) Ball, Patsy (Jay) Harreld and Cathy Haddon; nephews, Brice Harreld and Tanner Haddon; his girlfriend and loving caregiver, Pam Wizner; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins whom he loved dearly.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at eleven o'clock in the morning on Saturday, the 3rd of September, 2016 in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Summey and Rev. Kenneth Summey officiating. Interment will immediately follow with an escorted cortege in Sunset Memory Gardens.
Serving as pallbearers are Ben Murphy, Tony Murphy, Jay Harreld, Brice Harreld, Andy Ball, and Terry Howren.
Honorary pallbearers will be John Dixon, Gary Stephens, Charlie Thurman and Jerry Whitener.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o'clock in the evening until eight on Friday, the 2nd of September, 2016 at Owen Funeral Home.
