Roy graduated from Cass High School in 1948, and joined the Navy in 1949 during the Korean War, stationed in and around the shores of the United States. After his tour was over, he married Bernice Greenway, June 26,1954 and was married 56 years until she predeceased him in 2010. Roy retired from Lockheed with 30+ years, working as a flight line mechanic. He was an active member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Acworth, until his declining health.
