It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Tammy Lamb Hacker, 59, of Cartersville, Georgia. Tammy passed away peacefully at home on October 15th, 2025, surrounded by her loving family after a long and courageous battle with metastatic breast cancer.
Born on November 10th, 1965, in Harvey, Illinois, Tammy spent most of her childhood in Lansing, Illinois where she made lifelong memories and friendships that she cherished throughout her life. She attended Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Illinois where she met her husband of 36 years, Matt Hacker. After college, Matt and Tammy moved to Georgia where they built a beautiful life rooted in love, laughter, and family. She found her true calling in being a devoted wife, mother, and friend. Tammy’s greatest joy came from caring for others — she had a gift for making everyone she met feel seen, loved, and special.
Tammy’s courageous battle with breast cancer began in 2012, and though she experienced periods of remission, the disease returned in 2021. In the midst of a difficult prognosis, she defied the odds through her unwavering faith and determination. Even while facing her own health challenges, Tammy remained a devoted daughter, caring for her two parents as they navigated their own medical journeys. Despite everything, she never lost her joyful spirit — she found happiness in the simple things: sharing laughter with her family, tending to her home, connecting with friends, and creating special moments that brought light to everyone around her. Her ability to find joy even in hardship, and her devotion to family and faith, inspired all who knew her.
Tammy is survived by her husband, Matt Hacker; her children, Zack (Sarah) Hacker (28), Jake (Kenly) Hacker (26), and Kate Hacker (21); and her sisters, Teresa Lamb and Tracey (Furman) Jordan. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carold and Kay Lamb.
Tammy will be remembered as a loving wife, devoted mother, caring daughter, loyal sister, and thoughtful friend. Her positivity, strength, and kindness touched everyone she met, and her courage, faith, and joy in the face of adversity will continue to inspire us. Though we will miss her deeply, her spirit will live on in the memories we shared, the lessons she taught us, and the love she gave so freely to all.
On Monday, October 20th, a visitation will be held at Owen Funeral Home in Cartersville, Georgia at 11am followed by a celebration of Tammy’s life at 1pm. In honor of her joyful spirit, the family asks that those attending please do not wear black — Tammy wanted her life to be remembered with light, joy, and love.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to Life Point Church of Cartersville in Tammy’s memory. https://wearelifepoint.com/give
