

Bill was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Virginia Hufstetler Liddle whom he married on November 10, 1953; 3 brothers; 4 sisters and great-granddaughter, Adelynne Gracen Liddle.
Survived by daughters, Dr. Kathy Saxton (Jeff) of Morganton, NC and Michele (Steve) Crowe of Cartersville; son, Billy Liddle (Kim) of Cartersville; Grandchildren: Nichalas Liddle, Michael Liddle, Lawson Crowe, Kaitlin Saxton Duduit (James), Michaela Crowe, Hunter Saxton, Ethan Saxton and Haley Liddle; great-grandchild, Liam Matthew Liddle and several nieces and nephews.
Bill proudly served in the United States Air Force in the Military Police. The day after he was married, November 11, 1953, he marched with the American Flag at the Veteran’s Day Parade in Atlanta.
He was a long-time faithful member of Cassville Baptist Church in Cassville, GA where he proudly served as Deacon and in most recent years as a greeter on Sunday mornings.
Bill was employed at the Georgia Department of Transportation, District 6 in Cartersville for 30 years, and retired in 2018. At the time of his retirement, Bill was the oldest full-time active employee for the Georgia Department of Transportation at the young age of 87 which he was most proud. To commemorate his 30 years of faithful service to the State of Georgia, the Georgia State Flag was flown over the State Capitol in his honor.
Bill was a hard worker all of his life and especially loved his job at the DOT and referred to his co-workers as part of his family.
Affectionately known as “Mr. Fantastic”, Bill’s positive outlook on life on a daily basis blessed all that came in contact with him. He was a wonderful Husband, Father, Grandfather, and friend. He will be greatly missed by his family and the many friends that knew him.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 from 6-8pm and on Thursday, February 29, 2024 beginning at 1pm followed by a Celebration of Life Services at 2pm at Owen Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Salvatore officiating. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers: Nichalas and Michael Liddle, Lawson Crowe, Hunter and Ethan Saxton, and Michael Harris. Honorary Pallbearers: Katilin Saxton Duduit, Michaela Crowe, Haley Liddle, Liam Liddle and employees of District 6, Department of Transportation.
Flowers are accepted but contributions can be made to Cassville Baptist Church or your favorite charity in memory of Bill.
