Alva is survived by her husband of 51 years, Gerald Atkins of Apex; son, Gerald Atkins Jr. (Teresa) of Apex, daughters, Phyllis Prince (Robert) of Apex, Brenda Day (Jesse) of Garner, Wanda Kelly (Bill) of Willow Spring; 8 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; sister, Glenda Holt (Bill) of Apex.
Alva is preceded in death by one grandson, Adam Todd Kelly.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at Calvary Baptist Church, 7900 Ten Ten Road, Raleigh, NC. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House of Chapel Hill.
