

Rev. Campbell was born May 17, 1921 in Toledo, OH to the late Charles B. Campbell and Florence Rahm Campbell. He was a graduate of the University of Toledo and attended Bonebrake Theological Seminary in Dayton, OH. Rev. Campbell was licensed to preach in the United Brethren Church at the age of 18 and served Webster, Dowling, and Monclova United Brethren Churches while attending the University. While in seminary, he served the Oakwood Church in Dayton, OH until 1944, returning to Toledo, OH to serve as Associate Pastor in his home church Upton United Brethren Church until ordination in St. Mary’s Ohio in 1949. Rev. Campbell moved east to teach religion at Nyack Boys School in Nyack, NY, Chestnut Hill Academy in Philadelphia, PA and Charles Wright Academy in Tacoma, Washington, returning to Nyack as Headmaster before moving to New York, NY to assume a post in The Browning School in 1962. There he served in various roles as Assistant Headmaster, Director of Admissions, and teacher of Religion, until retiring in 1987. In 1993, he moved to Glenaire Retirement Community in Cary, NC, where he was active in the work of the Religious Life Committee as preacher and administer of Holy Communion.
Rev. Campbell was a member of both Scottish and York Masonic Rites and was a 32nd Degree Mason. He was a member of Mecca #1 Temple in New York, NY. Rev. Campbell served as chaplain in the Kane Lodge where he was awarded the Dedicated Service Award in 1989.
A memorial service will be held 10:00am Tuesday, August 21, 2012 in the Community Room at Glenaire Retirement Community.
