

Carolyn Betty Lou Fitzgerald, a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and wife passed away at UNC Rex Hospital on Monday, November 4th, 2024 at the age of 86. Mrs. Betty Lou Fitzgerald, was the wife of the late Reverend Eugene Fitzgerald and Mr. Wayne Sirois.
Betty was born on September 15th, 1938 in the province of Quebec, Canada to the late Eursel Kaine and the late Louisa Mann. One of 9 children, Betty was predeceased by siblings Ephraim, Eric, Joan, Faye, Basil, Bertha, and Bev. Betty is survived by her husband Mr. Wayne Sirois (and his children and grandchildren), sister Sheila, son Barry Fitzgerald and his wife Kate Fitzgerald as well as four grandchildren Christian (and wife Ally), Andrew, Benjamin, and Nicholas and one great grandchild Hezekiah.
After growing up in Southeast Canada, Betty moved to the United States as a young adult and married Mr. Eugene Fitzgerald. Betty lived in New York and Ohio before spending the latter half of her life in North Carolina. Eugene was a pastor at multiple churches and even started a school, and Betty was his valued partner throughout their journey. Betty was very involved with her husband Eugene’s churches throughout their pastoral years working as an admin and assisting with the worship services. They had two children, daughter Karen who passed away in 2001 and son Barry.
After staying home to raise her children, Betty would work several years for the state of NC and Museum of Art in Raleigh, NC. She also spent time as a nanny before retiring. Betty was happily married to Eugene until his passing in 1992.Betty was widowed for over 20 years before meeting Mr. Wayne Sirois while attending North Haven Church in Raleigh, NC. They were married for 11 years and enjoyed traveling together in their RV. Mr. Wayne loved her outgoing, Christian spirit and that she loved the Lord with all her heart.
Betty was a great encourager and supporter and full of joy despite many family tragedies endured. Her grandchildren loved spending time with her, especially Christmas as she was always excited and exuded the joy of a child.
A Visitation will be held on Thursday November 14,2024 beginning at 11:00am at North Haven Church, 6620 Six Forks Rd, Raleigh, NC 27615 followed by a 12:00pm Funeral Service. A committal service will be held at 1:30pm at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7501 Glenwood Ave Raleigh, NC 27612
