

Chandra Kala Luthra died peacefully at home in Cary, NC, on November 21, 2016, surrounded by her family. She was 95. She was the wife of Kartar Singh Luthra, who died on December 16, 2008. They were married for 62 years.
She is survived by five daughters and sons-in-law: Nirmal and Brij Jairath; Sushma and Rajinder Ohri; Neeru and Arun Oberoi; Sonia Kumkum and Raj Boveja; and Seema Luthra and Ravi Mohan, eight grandchildren (Tina, Neil, Mneesha, Kamini, Supna, Maeghan, Naina Tara, and Dean Dayal), their spouses (Rob Reilly, Sarita Narson, Nitish Nahata, Hardison Wood, Dan Reilly, Adam Smith, and Christopher Chan), fourteen great grandchildren (Reynu, Ryan, Tara, Kavin, Teagan, Dhevin, Lakshmi, Sarina, Rajan, Jaymin, Maya, Kiran, Dev, and Nickhil), her brother, Sominder Budhraja and sister Kanta Madan of New Delhi, India, their families, and several nieces and nephews.
She was born in Langet, Kashmir, India, attained her medical degree from Agra University, and a Diploma in Maternity and Child Welfare from the Margaret Sanger Institute. She practiced as an Ob-GYN Physician in India, delivered over 2,000 babies, and retired as a Family Planning Officer in the Government of India. She immigrated to the United States in 1976.
She loved music, dancing, emailing, face timing on the iPad, watching I Love Lucy episodes, and spending time with her family.
Cremation Services are planned for 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 23, at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 300 St. Mary’s Street, Raleigh 27605 (919) 828-4311. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday evening, November 22, at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home 200 S.E. Maynard, Cary 27511.
