Claire Ann Mersch

Claire was born to the late Carl and Clara Steinmetz. She attended the College of Mt. Saint Joseph on the Ohio after which she taught school before marrying her sweetheart Jerry. She loved teaching, cross-stitching, playing golf and especially cooking. She tirelessly raised her children Steve, Bill, Bob, Mike and her daughter Andrea who cared for and comforted her mother during her extended illness. She was blessed with 12 grandchildren. Claire’s second career was working as a chef in SAS Institute kitchen.

She was preceded in death by her brother Charles and his wife Helen.

She is survived by her husband Jerry, her brother Paul and his wife Ginny.

She would want to give a special thanks to her caregivers Elizabeth, Dawn, Christal and Mary for the exceptional care they provided during her extended illness.

Visitation will be at 12:00 noon with Mass following at 1:00pm on Saturday 12/5/15 at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Cary, North Carolina. Refreshments and light fair will be served in the Parish Center immediately following interment in the church’s columbarium.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children's Hospital.
