Dorothy Jones Horton

Dorothy Jones Horton, 86, passed away on Monday, September 19, 2011. She was born June 23, 1925 in Wake County to the late Melza and Lottie (Yates) Jones. Dorothy graduated from Hardbarger Business School and later retired from the US Postal Service. She and her husband Howard enjoyed spending time with the Dixie Twirler square dancers.

Dorothy is survived by three children, daughter, Dianne Davis and husband, Randy of Cary, sons, Howard Yates Horton and wife, Becky of Raleigh, Craig Jones Horton and wife Debra of Wake Forest; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard P. Horton.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 22, 2011 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 SE Maynard Rd., Cary. Burial will follow at Swift Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Raleigh.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Swift Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
