Douglas Morgan

Doug was born on Nov. 18, 1938 in Staten Island, NY. He was a resident of Cary since 1971. Doug spent his professional career as a mechanical engineer and received several patents for telephone switching equipment. He was a lifetime member of the NRA and achieved sharpshooter with pistol. He also belonged to the EAA and enjoyed flying and built his own airplane in 1976. He became a licensed aircraft mechanic and helped many others build and repair their aircraft. His other passion was restoring and showing antique cars. He and his grandson, Douglas, restored a 1946 open wheel midget race car and enjoyed racing in vintage events.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 54 years, Roberta, his son Doug (Paula), his daughter Donna and his daughter Dianne Sowers (Bob), his grandchildren, Renee, Alana, Douglas, Zachary, Henry, his great grandson, Ely and sister Mary Helenius of Staten Island.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Donations in his memory to Hospice of Wake Co. are greatly appreciated.
