DuWayne H. Prinsen, aka “Prinny”, passed away on November 27th, 2013 with the love and support of his immediate family. DuWayne was a passionate sports fan, loved many genres of music, and was extremely proud of his daughters, Toni & Kerri, and their families. We are confident that DuWayne is exuberant over learning that heaven does not allow barking dogs, buzzing mosquitoes, jet skis or red beets.
DuWayne was born in Sheboygan, WI, on January 24th, 1940, to Harvey & Sylvia Prinsen. He attended Sheboygan Central High School, graduating in 1958, and was a proud member of the Central Redman varsity basketball team. After graduating from high school, he served 2 years in the Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He then attended the University of Wisconsin – Madison, earning a BS in Economics and graduating in 1966. In Madison, he met his future wife, Judy Katte, and they married in 1967. They raised their two daughters in Arlington Heights, IL, and enjoyed summers at their beloved lake home in Elkhart Lake, WI. DuWayne and Judy retired in the mid 90s to Elkhart Lake and enjoyed lake living for 10 years before moving to the Raleigh, NC area to be closer to their daughter Kerri.
DuWayne is survived by his wife, Judy Prinsen of Fuquay-Varina, NC; his daughters, Toni (Tim) Ramey of Boise, Idaho, and Kerri (Shane) DeLair of Apex, NC; his grandchildren, Olivia Ramey, Teddy Ramey, Regan DeLair and Kendall DeLair; and brother, Rodney Prinsen of Sheboygan, WI.
In conjunction with DuWayne’s wishes, a service celebrating his life will be held in Elkhart Lake, WI during the summer of 2014. If desired, the family requests memorial gifts be made to Kairos Prison Ministry International - www.kairosprisonministry.org
