Ed’s faith was the center of his life and relationships, a focus and light that guided him and showed through in everything he did. He was very active at St. Michael the Archangel Church and Mother Theresa Catholic Mission. Those that knew him experienced his gifts often, through the service he and his wife, Patricia, gave to those in the church and by opening their home to the community, and especially through his music; he played with the Polka Plus Band and in the Mother Theresa 10:30am Sunday music group. You’d often find him playing the drums, guitar, trombone or singing, and he could always be counted on to get things going on the dance floor.
Ed was born in Youngstown, Ohio and grew up in Pittsford, New York where he met Patricia in their kindergarten carpool. He attended McQuaid Jesuit High School and Villanova University, and was thrilled to see his alma mater win the NCAA Basketball Championship this year. Ed received his masters at Rochester Institute of Technology. His career as an Information Systems Consultant brought him to Cary in 1985, where he became very involved in and even served as President of the SIM (Society for Information Management) Organization. He went on to work for several companies in this field before starting his own management consulting business.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Galloway; son, Greg Galloway and wife, Jennifer; daughter, Beth Berg and husband, Eric; grandsons Jacob and Garrett Galloway and Tyson Berg; brother, Robert Galloway and sister, Mary Beth Karr. He was predeceased by his mother and father, Jane Louise and Wallace Russell Galloway.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am Friday, September 2 at St. Michael’s Church, 804 High House Road, Cary, NC 27511. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 10:00am.
