Mrs. Elizabeth Sanders Hood Procter (Betsy), 93, transferred her residence from her lovely Cary home to her Heavenly home on February 10, 2012. Her brief bout with cancer was shared with loving care while being at home with her whole family and dear friends.
During her 12 years as a Cary resident, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she participated in the Ladies’ Ruth Circle, the Charley Mann Reflections Sunday School and other church activities. As a member of the Audubon Society, she enjoyed bus tours and bird watching. She also enjoyed arranging flowers and observing God’s world of natural beauty. Her special hobbies were sewing, working with stained glass, sea shells, crafts and writing memoirs.
Her love and pleasure was being with her children, Rob, Bette and Becky. But her greatest was with Bob, her devoted husband and they celebrated 71 years of blessed joy together.
Betsy was born in Kinston, NC on October 6, 1918. She graduated from Vanderbilt School of Nursing and spent several years in that field. She was the first Miss Kinston in 1935.
Betsy is survived by her beloved husband, Robert William Procter and her three children: Rob (Robin) from Sarasota, FL, Bette from Pulaski, NY and her youngest Becky who lives in Cary, NC. She has two grandchildren, Shawn and Bobby; four great grandchildren; a brother, John C. Hood (Helen) of Kinston, NC and a sister, Marsha Hood Brewer (Billy) from Pink Hill, NC.
Betsy will enjoy her heavenly reunion with her parents, John C. Hood and Lucy Sanders Hood, three sisters: Lucinda Hollowell, Anne Capps and Libby Hobgood along with her first great grandchild.
