Eula Mae Hammer

Eula Mae Hammer, 90, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2011 surrounded by her children. Born on December 1, 1921 in Falls of Neuse; she was the daughter of the late Jesse James Whitley and Gillie Morris Whitley.

Eula Mae graduated from Wake Forest High School. While working at Camp Butner, she met her future husband, Paul O. Hammer. Together they raised their family in Cary and were members of Resurrection Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her three children, Allen Hammer and wife Ruth Anne, of West Lafayette, IN, Jean H. Brannan and husband Clyde, of Cary and Donna H. Mills and husband Victor, of Apex; grandchildren, Tommy, Scott, Christie, Paul, Kelly, Patrick and Colleen; twelve great-grandchildren; and other family and friends.

Eula Mae was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Paul O. Hammer in 2000 and by her sisters, Hallie Ruth Lowery and Melba Bryant.

Family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon, January 1st from 2-4 PM at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home (200 SE Maynard Road in Cary). Funeral Services will be held on Monday, January 2, 2012 at 11 AM at Resurrection Lutheran Church (100 W. Lochmere Road), with interment to follow at Raleigh Memorial Park.
