

Eunice Perkinson Cummings, age 97, of Marsh Ave., died Monday, February 5, 2018 at Transitions LifeCare.
Eunice, a devout Christian, was born in Warren County, NC on November 17, 1920 to Thomas and Ada Wynn Grissom. She married James Horace Perkinson and after his passing she later married Dr. Ralph Waldo Cummings who also went to be with our Lord and Savior.
Eunice retired from Progress Energy in 1979. In addition to serving as a docent in the Governor’s mansion, she was a member of the Raleigh Women’s Club. She was also a member of the Readers Book Club, Daughter of the American Revolution. She has been faithfully attending White Memorial Presbyterian Church since 1993.
Eunice is also preceded in death by her son, James Hartwell Perkinson; brothers, Claude Grissom, T.J. Grissom, Sidney Grissom; and her stepson, Walter Cummings.
Survivors include her son, Jarvis Perkinson and his wife, Gloria of Cary; grandchildren, Deborah Johnson, Karen Bowman (Wally), Donna Matthews (Glenn), Jay Perkinson, Sheri Polychrones (Mike); great grandchildren, Heather Boykin (Evan), Kevin Ricks, Christian Mayes (Terri), Luke Johnson, Hartwell Perkinson, Logan Cogle, Jessica Cogle; great-great grandchildren, Taylor Ricks, Zach Boykin, Emersyn Mayes; Mason Boykin. step-children, Dr. Ralph Cummings (Emily) of Fearrington, Dr. William Cummings (Olga) of Apex, Mary Ann Hardee (Curt) of Fayetteville; step daughter-in-law, Katie Cummings; step grandchildren, Drs. Kiran and Will Harrell, John and Vanessa Cummings, Michael and Angela Cummings, Shannon and Mark Keesling, Yujin Cummings, Seijin and Regina Cummings, Catherine and Alexander Cummings, Patricia and Nick Donnelly, Rev. Brian Hardee; step great grandchildren, Peter and Austin Harrell, Jake and Madeline Cummings, Nick Cummings, Kelly and Ryan Guzouskis, Tucker Cummings, Justin and Chelsea Shover, Graham and Braden Shover, Madison and Mike Wright, Chase Kipperly, Cade Keesling, Joshua and Faith Cummings, Theodore and Oliva Cummings, Nicole Donnelly, Jordan Donnelly, Brynn Donnelly, Emma Hardee, Nora Hardee, Lucy Hardee, Gwen Hardee; brothers, Graham Grissom of Norlina, Calvin Grissom (Myrtle) of Henderson, Robert Grissom (Ann) of Florida; sister, Elizabeth Lane of Smithfield; a special caregiver, Jeri Barber; and many well loved nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at White Memorial Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will take place in Montlawn Memorial Park.
Pallbearers for the service will be Kevin Ricks, Christian Mayes, Luke Johnson, Hartwell Perkinson, Logan Cogle, Mark Lane and Roger Grissom.
