Faye Marion Liu gave her final goodbye in her home and went to Heaven on March 27, 2018. Marion dearly loved her family and friends. Her uplifting spirit, positive perspective, inner peace, lovingness and grand smile will be remembered by all whom she touched in her life. She will truly be missed by her children Michael, Audrey, Maria (Kurt) and her grandchildren Hayden, Ashlyn, Kylie and Shasta.
Marion was born on January 14, 1940 to Lily Mar (originally from Winnipeg, Canada) and Fai Lee (originally from China) in Hong Kong where she spent her early years. She moved to the United States to attend the San Francisco College for Women. As a proud college graduate, Marion continued her studies at the University of California, Berkeley for Social Work and then received a post-graduate diploma from the Bedford College, University of London.
Marion loved to travel and see the world. Some of her favorite places were Egypt, Machu Pichu, where she climbed the numerous steps, and the far reaches of Australia and New Zealand. Of all the cities, Marion said nothing surpasses the beauty of San Francisco, the perfect weather, and her many fond memories studying atop Lone Mountain with such a breathtaking view of the Golden Gate Bridge.
Marion held a deep passion for food and was an amazing cook. She enjoyed attending cooking schools to master her culinary skills. Whenever given the chance, she would take the opportunity to enjoy a museum or art gallery. She held great admiration for Monet’s Water Lilies. During her later years, Marion further developed her artistic passion in painting. Her watercolors reflect the beauty she saw in the world around her and inside her heart.
Of all her experiences, Marion boasted that her greatest life accomplishments by far were raising three wonderful children and she was very proud of them all. Marion made her home in Barrington, RI where her children grew up. She relocated to Cary, NC several years ago.
The family will receive friends on Saturday May 5th from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 SE Maynard Road in Cary, NC. A Celebration of Marion’s Life will be held at a later date in Rhode Island with her final resting place at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
