Forrest Clyde Russell

Forrest C. Russell, 88, died Saturday, February 27, 2016 in Cary. He was born in Sunbury, NC on October 29, 1927 to Clyde F. and Jennie Overman Russell. After serving in the US Army in 1946 he came to Raleigh, where he attended North Carolina State College. He worked as a Certified Public Accountant with A. T. Allen & Company. He retired from the North Carolina Baptist State Convention as its Controller.

He is survived by his children, Kevin and his wife Joy, Michael and his wife Amy, and Johnson and his wife Keturah; by grandchildren, Steven and his wife Brittany, David, Ben and his wife Samantha, Nancy and her fiancé Tom Konopasek, Mary Elizabeth, Morgann, and Tallis; and by great-grandchildren, Brooke and Connor.

Forrest is survived by his sister Sallie Lohman, sister Doris Parker and her husband Bill, and brother Frank Russell and his wife Joan.

Forrest was preceded in death by Marjorie Whitehurst Russell, his wife of 62 years. He is survived by her sister Elsie Garland and her husband Herb, brother Bob Whitehurst and his wife Sheila, brother Ben Whitehurst and his wife Michaele, and by Claire Whitehurst, the widow of Marjorie’s brother Lindsay. Forrest has two nieces and thirteen nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at Westwood Baptist Church, 200 Westhigh Street, Cary, NC 27513. Burial will follow at Brier Creek Memorial Gardens, 7600 ACC Boulevard, Raleigh, NC 27617.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 1, at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 S.E. Maynard Road, Cary, NC 27511.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Transitions Lifecare, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.
