

Frederick Michael “Mike” Persson, 75, of Raleigh, NC died suddenly on April 20. Born the only son to Frederick “Fritz” and Helen Rice Persson on December 7, 1939 in Carbondale, Illinois, he was raised in nearby Carterville.
He earned an electrical engineering degree from the Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy (now Missouri University of Science and Technology) in Rolla, Missouri. He also earned a Master’s in Business Administration from Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana. As a Professional Engineer, he worked in a variety of manufacturing plants including Delco Electronics and Borg-Warner.
On June 4, 1966, he married Mary Edith “Eydee” Miller of New Richmond, Indiana. Together they raised three sons in Cary, North Carolina. He was an active leader at Resurrection Lutheran Church and faithfully sang in the choir. He loved classical music, symphony concerts, the St. Louis Cardinals, waterskiing and boating. He was an officer in the Corvettes International club.
Mike Persson is survived by his faithful and loving wife of 48 years, Eydee Persson; three devoted sons, Mike of Raleigh, Jon of Apex, and Chris of Stokesdale; one granddaughter Demaree; four grandsons, Jathan, Chip, Oliver and Zachary; two sisters, Mary Beth Newsom and Nancy Pearson both of Carterville IL; daughter-in-laws, Bee Persson and Cathy Lupo Persson; brother-in-laws, Dean Pearson and Ben Miller; sister-in- law, Maxine Miller; and many other loving relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday, April 27, 2015 at Resurrection Lutheran Church in Cary. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home in Cary and from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service at church on Monday. Entombment will be in Wake Memorial Park in Cary.
Memorial donations can be made to the Resurrection Lutheran Church music program or Resurrection Lutheran School scholarship fund.
