

George William Bucklad, 75, of Apex, NC, passed away July 7, 2025, at Duke Raleigh Hospital in Raleigh, NC, with his beloved wife Di at his side. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA, on August 8, 1949, to William and Margaret Bucklad. He was married to Di Burrus Bucklad for 52 years. Together, they had two sons, Bradford W. Bucklad and Steven A. Bucklad.
George graduated from North Catholic High School in Pittsburgh, PA, served in the Navy aboard the USS Independence for six years, and had a career as a Senior Calibration Technician for FCX and Applied Industrial Technologies. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and had a passion for helping others and serving the youth of the community.
George served as Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 204, Sunday School teacher for 9th grade at FUMC, cooked for the youth on Sunday nights, chaperoned church trips with choir, handbells, and youth group, and served with the Appalachian Service Project for 21 years.
In his later years, George continued to work and continued to find ways to serve others by helping repair homes damaged by natural disasters. George loved his family deeply, built friendships with the people he worked alongside, and found purpose in serving others. His lasting legacy will be found in the hearts and memories of the many people he impacted throughout his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Anthony Bucklad and Margaret Butler Bucklad, as well as his sister Barbara Ann Bucklad.
George is survived by his wife Patricia “Di" Burrus Bucklad, his sons Bradford William Bucklad (Leigh Bucklad) and Steven Anthony Bucklad (Megan Bucklad). He is also survived by his brother, Brian Bucklad. Finally, George is survived by five grandchildren: Miles Bradford Bucklad, Mason William Bucklad, Evelynne Joy Bucklad, Avery Jane Bucklad and Jameson Daniel Bucklad.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of George can be made to Young Life of Huntington, WV ( giving.younglife.org/ylhuntington ) or efforts to repair storm damaged homes in Eastern NC ( FUMC-Cary Disaster Work Teams #8078 ).
