He was 79 years old. Born on December 26, 1946, in Vlora, Albania, he lived a life that spanned continents, cultures, and callings, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Gezim earned both a bachelor's and master's degree in literature and journalism. His career was one of remarkable range: he worked as an assistant director in film, served as a diplomat to China and Vietnam, opened a real estate agency, returned to local journalism, and concluded his professional life operating a limousine service. In each chapter, he brought the same energy and engagement that defined him throughout his life.
Gezim is survived by his devoted wife, Vjollca Dhrimaj; his two sons, Ardian and Helion Dhrimaj; his grandchildren, Aurelio and Mirabelle; and his four sisters, Hajrie Dhrimaj, Valentina Henaj, Silvana Kruja, and Fatbardha Brace.
He was a fun-loving man with strong convictions about family, culture, and politics, and a deep love of journalism, art, film, music, dancing, and food. He brought vitality and spirited conversation to every room he entered, and held his cultural roots with great pride.
Gezim Dhrimaj lived fully and loved fiercely. He will be profoundly missed.
