

Glenn Douglas Gray, 77, died August 16, 2015. He was born on September 9, 1937 in Alexandria, VA to Willie Lewis Gray and Lola Frances Knott Gray. He worked for Eastern Airlines for 35 years. From 1956-1966, he was at Washington National Airport as a Chief Agent where he boarded the first shuttle flight. He was Agent to meet and greet all dignitaries , which included The Kennedys, many movie stars and public figures. From 1966-1991, he was at Raleigh-Durham International Airport , and then spent 5 years with Southwest Airlines in Tampa, FL. After retiring, he was employed by Advance Auto Parts.
Glenn loved all sports, including pole vaulting. He excelled at basketball, and once coached a girls’ team to a championship. He enjoyed motorcycle and bike riding, fishing, and hunting.
Glenn loved to laugh and make others laugh. He was a great story and joke teller with a quick wit. He was also very artistic and enjoyed drawing. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, W. Lee Sibbett Gray; daughter, Dana Turner of Gastonia, NC; daughter, Vicki Marie Gray Winthrop of Statesville, NC and her husband, Russell, and their children, Abigail, Gracie, and Walker; stepson, David M. Nobles of Cary, NC and his wife, Brandi, and their children, Mikayla, Delaney, and Franklin; stepson, Bryan Peterson of Henry, NE and his wife, Amber, and their children, Elijah, Abreana Elizabeth, and Gauge; brother, Stephen Gray of Broad Run, VA and his wife, Gayle; brother, Martin Gray of Knightdale, NC; and brother, Marion Gray of Fawnie, TN and his wife, Karen.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Barry Dale Gray; brother, Jack Gray; and sister, Barbara Gray Carter.
The family will receive friends at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 S.E. Maynard Road, Cary, NC 27511 on Friday, August 21, 2015 starting at 5:00pm, followed immediately by a funeral service at 6:30pm, with a receiving afterward.
