Harry W. Miller

Harry W. Miller died Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at WakeMed Cary. He was born May 26, 1927 in Newburyport, MA. Harry and his family lived in the Raleigh area since moving there in 1968. He was a loving husband and family man who loved life and found the humor in all things.

Harry served overseas in the Army and was a lifetime member of the VFW. He and his family traveled the US while he worked as a programmer and engineer for IBM. After retiring he enjoyed fiction writing, photography, watching wildlife in his backyard and especially loved playing music with his family.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife Elizabeth of 58 years. He is survived by his sister Mrs. Laura Terry of Newburyport, MA; daughter Gwen Boyles and husband Roger of Pittsboro, NC; son Harry W. Miller, Jr. and wife Sandra of Jemison, AL; Gregory E. Miller and wife Katherine of Raleigh; and daughter Jill S. Miller of Newport, NC; seven grandchildren, Elizabeth, Leo, Glen, Clay, Phillip, Becky, and Keith; one great-granddaughter Lily Claire.

A private service for family will be held at the gravesite on Saturday, July 24, 2010. A celebration of his life will follow, as the family will receive friends from 1:00–3:00 pm at the family home.
