Janet Marie Preddy Dorsey

Janet was born September 28, 1929 in Granville County to the late John Royal Preddy, Sr. and Alpheous Barnes Clay Preddy.

Janet was a lovely lady with a warm heart and generous spirit. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She loved her Preddy and Dorsey families, her Ephesus Baptist Church family, her many friends through Eastern Star and others who were blessed to know her.

Janet graduated from Wilton High School. She was a marvelous homemaker, an excellent cook and seamstress. She was more than thirty years a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She served as Worthy Matron of the Edith Chapter in Cary. Janet loved the Lord and served God in many different ways as an active member of Ephesus Baptist Church.

Janet was preceded in death by her twin sister, Janie Sanford; and brothers, John Royal; Bobby; Paul; and Grady Lee Preddy.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, William “Ed” Dorsey; daughters, Marie Myrick of Cary; and Barbara Glasgow and her husband, Rev. Jack Glasgow of Zebulon; sister, Francis Farrell of Berryville, VA; brother, Troy Preddy and his wife, Betty Jean of Oxford; sister-in-laws, Barbara Preddy; and Virginia Preddy both of Oxford; three grandchildren, Christi Welch of Henderson; Liza Knight and her husband, Russell of Greenville; and Jackson Glasgow and his wife, Lauren of Wendell; and one great grandson, Logan Knight.

A funeral service will be held 11am Saturday, January 17th at Ephesus Baptist Church, 6767 Hillsborough Street, Raleigh, NC 27606. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8pm Friday, January 16th at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 SE Maynard Rd, Cary, NC 27511.
