Jimmy Clifton Tart

Jimmy Clifton Tart, age 85, of Cary, NC passed away on April 19, 2022 at The Laurels of Forest Glenn. He was a loving husband, daddy and papa who loved spending time with his grandchildren and he was looking forward to the birth of his great-grandson.

A funeral service will be held Monday, April 25th at 11:00 a.m. at Garner Advent Christian Church and burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Sunday, April 24th from 4:00-5:30 p.m. at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home in Cary, NC.

Jimmy was born on January 15, 1937 in Johnston County to the late William Golden and Ivey Rachel Browning Tart. He retired from North Carolina State University in 1993 after 31 years of service as a Writer and Publications Editor for the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. He served almost nine years in the Army National Guard and was honorably discharged in 1963 with the rank of Staff Sergeant (E6). Jimmy was a faithful member of Garner Advent Christian Church where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher for many years.

Those who will cherish his memory most are his loving wife of 60 years, Betty Lewis Tart; his daughters and sons-in-law, Rhonda Phearsdorf (James Jr.) of Raleigh and Karen Carwell (Jeff) of Clayton; his sisters, Ruth Tart of Raleigh and Betty Royals (Tommy) of Benson; his brothers, Durwood Tart (Phyllis), Rick Tart (Joan), Ken Tart (Anita) all of Benson; his sister-in-law, Glenda Tart of Fayetteville; his grandchildren, Lance Phearsdorf (Annemarie), Kaitlyn Phearsdorf, Quinton Carwell (Jessica) and Dawson Carwell.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Golden Tart, Jr. of Fayetteville and a brother-in-law, Billy Gene Tart Sr. of Raleigh.

The family would like to thank the Laurels of Forest Glenn and Heartland Hospice for their excellent care the past 6 months.
