Joan was a funny, sweet, and caring woman. Everyone who met her could speak to her lively personality. As some would say, you can take the girl out of the Bronx but you cannot take the Bronx out of the girl. She loved spending time with her family, friends, and furry family members. In her free time she enjoyed arts and craft activities, swimming, watching her favorite TV shows, and sitting outside with the family dog, Mya, in her daughter's backyard.
She is survived by her daughter, Jill Gitlin; grandson, Jeremy Gitlin; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, brother, and sister.
A funeral service will be held 1pm Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 SE Maynard Road, Cary, NC 27511. Burial will follow at Wake Memorial Park, 7002 Green Hope School Road, Cary, NC 27519.
