Joseph Luther Morris Jr.

Joseph Luther Morris Jr passed away peacefully with his wife present on July 5th, 2021 at the age of 91. Born on July 24th, 1929 in Morven, NC to Joseph Luther and Mary Privette Morris, Joe was the 3rd of 9 children.

Joe served in the Air Force and the Navy for 10 years total military service. He worked as an Analyst for the Department of Defense for 30 years and later worked at CSC for 5 years before retiring to New Bern, NC.

Joe enjoyed fishing, gardening, walking, and playing poker in his free time. He was an animal lover and was sensitive to the needs of local wild birds, which he enjoyed observing. He also lead a life of service by participating in many charities such as soup kitchens, Lion’s Club, Habitat for Humanity, and many church organized activities.

In addition to his surviving siblings, Joe leaves behind his wife of 65 years, Sylvia, his children Kurt Morris and Pamela Joseph, 3 grandchildren Shaun, Heather, and Megan, and a great-grandchild, Jacob.

Joe never met a stranger, was a loyal friend, and a helpful neighbor.

A private service for immediate family is planned for Saturday, July 10th.
