

She was born August 1, 1941 the only child of Elmer Edwin Ramsey and Martha Virginia Armstrong (Ramsey) in Staunton, Virginia. Kay graduated from Robert E. Lee High School, Staunton, Virginia in 1958 and Radford University in 1961 with a BS in Education. She worked as an elementary school teacher (primarily 3rd grade) for 25 years before retiring from Henry Adams Elementary. She also taught in Virginia, Ohio, Missouri and Florida. She was a member of White Plains United Methodist Church for more than 57 years and served in numerous capacities.
Kay had a passion for her grandchildren, friends, church family, the beach, traveling the world with Jack and sending cards of inspiration to all she knew and loved. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Jack Robert Farmer.
Kay is survived by two sons, Mark(Laura) and Andy, as well as four grandchildren, Brayden, Kyla, Andrew and Dean.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at White Plains United Methodist Church with a reception to follow in the Family Life Center. 313 SE Maynard Road, Cary, NC.
