Kit Edison Mattocks

Kit was born October 3, 1943, in Jones County, NC, son of the late Robert Lee Mattocks and the late Rossie Banks Mattocks. Stationed in Korea before college, Kit served in the US Army. He held a Master’s Degree in Industrial Engineering. Kit enjoyed flying. During the years he held his private pilot’s license he enjoyed taking anyone interested up for flights to inspire a love of flying and made his plane available to others. He loved golf and enjoyed teaching his oldest grandson the game while spending many perfect weather days together out on area greens. Kit loved target practice with handguns and rifles; and hunted deer with both bows and rifles. As a Civil War buff, Kit was able to combine his interest with the exploration of his ancestry. Time spent with his family was always important to him. He was a wonderful, loving husband, father, and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Connie Kennedy Mattocks; younger daughter, Destini Mattocks; oldest daughter, Kristi Grice and her husband Mike, and their children, Ty and Gage. He is also survived by a sister Louise Beheler and her husband Sonny. Kit was preceded in death by his brothers Bob, Calvin, and Gene Mattocks.

A Celebration of Life will be held with details announced at a later time.
