Larry was born July 24, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan, where he lived until entering service with the Air Force in 1951.
Prior to his service, Larry completed two years of study in Aeronautical Engineering at the Lawrence Institute of Technology (now Lawrence Technological University). He earned a degree in Industrial Management from that University in 1957. He later worked for Ford Motor Company in Michigan, and subsequently for JI Case in Wisconsin, and for Campbell Hausfeld in Ohio.
On August 24, 1953 he was united in marriage to Joan Carol Baxter of Detroit. After their retirement, and prior to moving to Cary, the couple divided their time between Cape Coral, Florida and Lake Santee near Greensburg, Indiana. They were married for 62 years before Joan preceded him in death in 2015.
Larry loved boating, fishing, reading mystery novels, and building model airplanes. Most of all he loved great food and storytelling while entertaining family and friends.
He is survived by his two children Nancy (Robert) Briggs of Apex and Mark (Sharyn) Hamilton of Colorado; three grandchildren, Laura (Joshua) Nowak, Allison (Travis) Drake, and Matthew Hamilton; four great-grandchildren plus a fifth on the way; and his close friend Claire Fairweather of Cary.
