Miss Lee Cox, 98, peacefully slipped into eternity on Thursday, May 15th, 2025. She was the last surviving daughter of Marvin and Lanzie (Starling) Renfrow. In addition to her parents and siblings, Lee was preceded in death by her husband of forty-nine years, Alonza "Junior" Cox, Jr. Otherwise known as "June Bug" who passed in 1995.
Lee was survived by her three children; her daughter, Janet (Johnny) Codispoti, daughter, Diane (Lin) Warren, and son, Wayne (Donna) Cox. Lee has six grandchildren, Lisa Mull, Debbie Thornton, Brandon and Mark Warren, Justin Cox, and Cayla Boyd. Eight great-grandchildren and many great great-grands.
Lee spent most of her career life with AT&T and was respected for her dedication and work ethic. Her retirement job was working at Belk's at the gift wrapping department where she made many new friends and helped to make a lot of happy customers.
Lee and Junior loved to go camping and also square dancing. After Junior passed away Lee took up traveling. She has visited places all around the world and been on fifty-three cruises with her best friend, Nancy Cabe. In addition to the travel, she also enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles, reading a good book, and was a forever diehard fan of the daily N&O crossword puzzle.
A true family lady, she cherished her time visiting with her children and especially all of her grands. Lee's legacy is one of hard work and deep love. She was without a doubt the rock and foundation of her family as she kept all of them together and connected to each other. Her family and friends will greatly miss her as she was a much cherished and special lady to all of them.
