She was predeceased by her husband, J.B. Bowden (to whom she was married 60 years) in 1995.
She is survived by her daughter Carolyn and husband Douglas Byrd of Cary, grandson Gary Byrd of Apex, granddaughter Loretta and husband Kelly Bertram of Fuquay Varina, and great-granddaughters Casey and Emily Gillikin.
Visitation with family and friends will be held at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, Cary, on Thursday, September 3, at 2:00 pm followed by a Memorial Service in the funeral home chapel at 3:00 pm. A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, September 4, at 11:00 am at Oakdale Cemetery, 520 N. 15th Street, Wilmington, NC.
