Margaret Beachum McMillan

Margaret Beachum McMillan, 97, of Cary, died unexpectedly on July 3, 2011 at Wake Med Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Margaret was born August 9, 1913 in Polkton, NC, one of six daughters to the late Dudley Thomas and Stella Mock Beachum. She was a graduate of Star, NC High School and married the love of her life, the late Allan McMillan on October 21, 1944. Margaret was an avid reader, loved to garden and enjoyed traveling (including Ireland and AZ to visit her grandchildren). She operated Margaret’s Beauty Shop in both Star and Asheboro, NC and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Cary since 1956.

Margaret is survived by a daughter, Jane Jackson and husband, Alan of Cary, son, John and wife, JoAnn of Pineville; three grandchildren, John Carlton Jackson and wife, Ruth of Cobh, Co. Cork, Ireland, Rachel Belanger and husband Adam of Tempe, AZ, Emily McMillan of Pineville; two great-grandchildren, Cathal and Ruadhan Jackson.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at First United Methodist Church, 117 S. Academy St., Cary. Interment will follow at 3:30 p.m. at Forks of Little River Baptist Church, Troy, NC.

The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church in the fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the charity of ones choice.
