Marion Homan Mitchell, 88, of Durham, N.C., passed away peacefully April 2, 2018 at Transitions LifeCare in Raleigh surrounded by family. Marion was born in New Bern, N.C, she was the daughter of the late Leslie Beecher Homan and Alicia Mochrie Homan, and the wife of the late R. Roy Mitchell Jr. She graduated from Mars Hill College and attended Wake Forest College and graduated from Watts School of Medical Technology. She worked as a Medical Technologist at various hospitals and clinics in Winston-Salem, Chapel Hill and Durham throughout her career. While working at the infirmary at UNC- Chapel Hill she met the late R. Roy Mitchell Jr. and they were married for 57 years.
Surviving are her three children, Schuyler Mitchell Dunmyer of Morrisville, Hilton Stuart Mitchell of Durham and Roy Mitchell III of Wilmington; sister Caroline Wiedmer Homan of Zurich, Switzerland; one grandchild, Jacob Mitchell Dunmyer; four nieces and two nephews.
The memorial service will be held at 2:00pm, Sunday, April 8th, 2018 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home in Cary, NC. The family will receive friends at a reception after the service.
