Mark Pataky, 55, passed away May 31, 2012 in Jacksonville, FL after a 14 month courageous battle with cancer. He was on his way home to North Carolina after visiting one of his favorite vacation spots in central Florida. Mark enjoyed playing golf at Prestonwood amongst many other courses, watching NY Giants football and UCONN basketball, gardening, relaxing in the pool, soaking up sun at the beach and many finer things in life.
Mark was born February 22, 1957 in Stamford, CT to Judy Schrober Pataky and now deceased Raymond Pataky. While growing up in Connecticut Mark attended Stamford Catholic High. He also graduated from Central Connecticut State University where he met his wife, Pat.
He had a successful career in the IT field which eventually took him and his family to North Carolina after a brief time in Kentucky. During Mark’s life in North Carolina he satisfied his dreams of becoming a published author, a small business owner, and an attorney of which he was most proud. Mark graduated from Ave Maria School of Law in Michigan in 2009, Juris Doctoris. Mark became a member of the North Carolina State Bar in 2009.
Mark enjoyed spoiling his girls; wife of 32 years Pat Pataky, daughter Meghan Corder, daughter-in-law Kelly Pataky and granddaughter Abigail Pataky who was his very special angel.
Mark also enjoyed spending guy-time with his son, Christopher Pataky building rockets and computers, brewing beer and most recently flying model planes. He also enjoyed spending time with his son-in-law, Preston Corder having endless discussions on football, golf and home-brewing. Also, golfing with his brother Jeff and most recently, fishing once again with his Uncle John in Georgia.
Mark is also survived by his mother, Judy Schrober Pataky, sister, Suzanne Schlegel and her husband Frank, brothers Jeff and Greg along with many other family members and friends.
We would also like to thank the staff at the Cancer Centers of NC in Cary for their care and support during Mark’s illness.
