

Martha Day Stephens, 83, died September 23, 2012. She was born on January 10, 1929 in Paragould, AR to Dickson and Willie Day. Mrs. Stephens was an antique dealer and devoted housewife. She was a wonderful mother and Nanny. She made the best chicken pot pie and played a mean game of flinch. After retirement, she enjoyed much of her time in Vero Beach, FL.
Mrs. Stephens is survived by daughters, Jan Stephens, Nancy Barney and Anna Lea Stephens; grandchildren, Stacy Ward and husband, Jeff, Jody Swing and husband, Thomas, Richard Rogers and wife, Elizabeth and Blake Hussion; great grandchildren, Carly, Avery and Emmitt Ward, Sarah and Charley Swing, and Davis and Lilly Kate Rogers; and also her sister, Mary Murrie.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard K. Stephens; and brothers, Toby and Bud Day.
A memorial service will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday, September 28, 2012 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 S.E. Maynard Road, Cary. The family will receive friends immediately after the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions in her memory to Hospice of Wake County, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.
