

Myles A. Owens III died peacefully surrounded by his family at WakeMed Hospital in Cary, NC on October 16, 2015 at the age of 54 after a lengthy battle with Prostate Cancer.
Myles is survived by his wife Patty and children; Bianca, Myles IV and Grayson Owens also of Cary, NC. In addition, Myles family includes: Miles Owens II, his father; the late Nellie Jo Maxwell-Hooper, his mother and step father Michael Hooper; Larry and Betty Hockingberry, his mother and father in law; the late Joe and Bonnie Maxwell, his grandparents; the late Miles and Elizabeth Owens, also his grandparents; his sibling Joseph Owens and extended siblings Tammy Owens; Roman and Julie Bartik; Jimmy and Wendy Shingler; Aimee Harmon, Kendra Cooney, Michelle Hamiel, Julie Layland, Michael Hooper, Karen Trivette, Kristen Zaberatanski and the late Brad Wade and Jerry Cooney. One of his favorite titles was Uncle, which he proudly adorned with his many nephews and nieces.
Myles was a very accomplished person who wore many hats, including, but not limited to a campaign manager for Rhodes Taft campaign for Ohio, radio news broadcaster, deep sea treasure diver, National Guard Jag Officer, Semi-Professional Baseball Player, Corporate Lawyer for Exxon, IBM, and Compaq, CEO for X3D Technologies and Founder of Gray Granite Uniforms LLC. Proud member of Knights of Columbus and Apex Sunrise Rotary and most recently a certified Barbecue Judge. One of his passions was being a recreational coach for soccer, baseball, football and basketball.
Myles respected and treasured his unique relationship with each one of his family members. He had a special gift relating to and talking with his children, nephews and nieces. Everyone who met Myles remembers him as a man of great humor who took enormous pleasure in making others laugh. Myles’ gentle nature was understood through his enjoyment of Apex Sunrise Rotary. During Myles’ extensive travels throughout the world including India, Egypt, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Europe, Turkey, and many other exotic locations, you could find him everywhere talking with virtual strangers about any given topic. Myles genuinely found great pleasure and gained a wealth of knowledge conversing with people of all ages, cultures and ethnic backgrounds.
In keeping with the wishes of Myles there will be a celebration of his life presided by his life long spiritual advisor, and uncle, Reverend Roy Maxwell.
Family will receive friends Monday, Oct. 19th from 1-3 PM at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home in Cary, with a service to begin at 3 PM. Family welcomes all to celebrate Myles' life at their home following the service.
