Patricia Deaner Doan

Patricia Deaner Doan, 78, of Fuquay Varina, NC passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 surrounded by her family. She was born in Atlantic City, NJ on May 1, 1939 to the late Alice and Lawrence Anderson of Southampton, PA.

Patricia graduated from West Catholic High School for Girls in Philadelphia, PA in 1956 and Fitzgerald Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1959. In 1959, she married Robert Doan and over their 58 years of marriage, they lived in Lock Haven, PA, Perkasie, PA, and Chalfont, PA, before moving to Morehead City NC in 1995.

Patricia was a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania for 35 years until she retired in 1994. Patricia was known for her joy of life, her beautiful smile, and her laughter. She enjoyed salt water fishing on the Bald Eagle II, traveling, cruising, shopping, and watching college football and basketball. Over the years, she enjoyed taking care of her family and supporting her husband’s and children’s academic and athletic careers.

Patricia is lovingly remembered by her husband, Robert Doan; her brother, Larry Anderson (Barbara) of Feasterville, PA and her five loving children: Michael Doan, Patricia “Patty” Doan, and Susan Doan of Fuquay Varina, NC; Edwin Doan (Audrey) of Chesapeake, VA; and Diane Matlock (Chuck) of Newport, NC. Patricia is also survived by 5 grandchildren.

Special appreciation to the WakeMed Clinical team on 5C; Priority Care Medical Transport; Duke Oncology; Wake Spine and Pain; and Duke Home Care and Hospice for the compassionate care provided to Patricia.

A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church (804 High House Rd, Cary, NC 27513) on Friday November 3, 2017 at 12:00 pm. Visitation will start at 11:00 am prior to the start of the mass.
