Rebecca Gratham Horton

Rebecca Grantham Horton, of Fuquay Varina NC, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2025. She was born on October 20, 1951 in her hometown of Charlotte, daughter of Elbert and Gertrude Grantham.

Rebecca attended Kings College then later moved to Raleigh after marrying the love of her life, Les Horton. After the birth of their son, Jeff, the family spent three years in Mechanicsburg Pennsylvania before returning home to Cary North Carolina, where they created lifelong friendships and community.

Rebecca worked for elevin years at Raleigh Orthopaedic, where she formed many lasting relationships. She later spent more than twenty years as a preschool teacher at First Baptist Church Cary. Her gentle patience, steady kindness, and love for children touched countless families and left a legacy of warmth and care that will remain for generations.

Rebecca is survived by her devoted husband, Les Horton of 52 years, her beloved son Jeff Horton, and her daughter-in-law Lauren Horton. She treasured her grandchildren, Grayson and Annabelle, who brought boundless joy and pride into her life.

A service celebrating Rebecca’s life will be held at First Baptist Church in Cary on Wednesday, December 3rd at 11:00 am with visitation to follow. Her family invites all who knew and loved her to join in honoring her remarkable life. Mrs. Horton will be laid to rest at Wake Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to the UNC Hospital, 101 Manning Drive, Chapel Hill, NC 27514 (Cancer Clinic).
