

Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years Katherine Carlson, nee Tupycia and was the loving father of Katherine (Greg) Granato, Barbara Logan, Patricia (Peter) Borgia, and Michael (Monica) Carlson. Bob was the proud grandfather of Tim (Melissa) Granato, Erin (Rich) McLean, Kyle (Carla) Granato, Kristen Granato, Carson Logan, Jonathan and Brenna Borgia, and Katie-Bray and Sloan Carlson. He was also the great-grandfather to Logan Granato, and Brady and Scarlett McLean. Bob will be missed by his beloved dog Buddy.
Bob was born on November 16, 1936 in the Roseland neighborhood in Chicago, IL. He attended grade school at St. Louis Academy and graduated from Fenger High School in Chicago. He held a B.A. in Behavioral Science from the National College of Education. In his young adult life, Bob held numerous jobs, many times working two jobs to support his young family including owning and operating the Magic Touch Beauty Salon in Roseland for 7 years and working at International Harvester in West Pullman for 25 years. At Harvester, Bob held various positions working his way up from janitor to Labor Relations Manager until 1983 when he relocated with his family to Raleigh, NC. Bob worked in Human Resources at ITT and MCI Telecommunications until his retirement in 2000.
Bob was a founding parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Raleigh and later moved to Cary, NC and became parishioners of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church where Bob was active in the church as a Eucharistic Minister. Throughout Bob’s life, he enjoyed traveling on many pilgrimages through-out Europe with friends, spending time at the Old Settler, and playing golf in the annual Ralago tournament. A special time of Bob’s was when he and his wife Kathy took their entire family and friends on a cruise to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. He was an avid Duke and Notre Dame fan and for the past several years, Bob enjoyed volunteering at Catholic Parish Outreach.
Bob was proceeded in death by his parents Milton and Marie Carlson and sister Shirley (Ray) Dulluck.
A mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, January 4th at 11:00 am at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Cary, NC.
