Robert Braxton Smith Jr.

Robert B. Smith Jr,79 of Cary, NC passed away on November 25,2025. He was born in Asheville NC on December 21,1945 to Robert and Mary Smith. He was married to Wanda Handin Smith for 40 years. Robert worked for the Department of Agriculture as an Analytical Chemist. Robin graduated from Fike High School in Wilson, NC. He attended the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. Received his degree in Chemistry and his master’s in chemistry from East Carolina. He had a passion in Golf, Cycling, and Avid Carolina Tarheel fan. He served from 1968-1974 in the USAR.

His was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Mary Smith, his brother, Tommy Smith, his niece Christie Hardin, Brother-in-law Jeff Hardin. His wife’s parents Clare and Lester Hardin. Finally, kindred spirit and friend his stepdaughter Angela Truelove Williamson.

He is survived by his wife Wanda Hardin Smith, stepdaughter Tracy Stancil (Brad), 5 grandchildren: Nicole Poarch (Kevin) Keaton Williamson (Aliza), Emma Williamson (Nasir) David Hardin. Two Great Grandchildren Elaina Grace Stancil, Makenzie Tru Williamson, sister-in-law Anna Hardin, son in law Tommy Williamson.

"You may be gone from my sight, but you are never gone from my heart" it's hard to forget someone who gave us so much to remember." "When someone you love becomes a memory, that memory becomes a treasure." Not a day goes by when you are not loved and missed.
