
Ruth Wood Bakley, 81, died Sunday, May 25, 2015 at her home in Morrisville, NC. She leaves behind three sons, Robert, Jr. (Julie Stirling), William and Daniel (spouse Brenda), five grandchildren: Kelly, Jonathan, Matthew, Luke and Danielle; and two great grandchildren: Gabriel and Michael. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert, Sr., and her daughter, Linda Kathleen.
A memorial service to honor Mrs. Bakley's memory will be held at the Courtyard by Marriott in Mount Laurel, NJ from 4 to 8 pm on June 26, 2015.
Ruth was born on December 1, 1933 in Camden, NJ, and was the daughter of the late Florence Lanholm Wood and William Irwin Wood. She grew up in Pennsauken, NJ and met her husband, Bob, while they were both still in high school and they were married for over 55 years.
Ruth loved spending time with her family and friends, playing games, knitting and competing in bridge games. Because of her husband's position with USAID, she and her family spent many years overseas in India, Singapore, Cairo, and Manila. Most recently, she resided in Falls Church, VA and Greenville, NC prior to moving to the Preston Pointe Retirement Community in December 2013.
The family welcomes donations in her name to the Humane Society, or the American Cancer Society.
