Sallie Corey

She was born to J.J. and Minnie Burns in Bon Terre, Missouri. At age three, J.J. was transferred to upstate New York where she spent her childhood, graduating from Governor High School. She earned a BA degree from Syracuse University in 1951, where she was an active member of her sorority, Gamma Phi Beta.

Sallie is survived by her husband of 72 years, William Corey.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by four children, Kitley Rainwater of LaPlata, Maryland, Charles Corey of Chattanooga, TN, Taylor Corey of Cary, NC and Geoffrey Corey of Fuquay-Varina, NC; seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Her vocation and her avocation was her family to whom she had a lifetime devotion.

At Sallie’s request, there will be no services.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations by be made in her name to the SPCA of Wake County, 200 Pet Finder Lane, Raleigh NC 27603.
