

CARY - Susan Livengood Miller was born in Winston-Salem, NC on April 15, 1937. She died peacefully on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at the age of 87, after a brief stay at Transitions LifeCare Hospice Home in Cary, NC.
Susan grew up in Winston-Salem, NC and graduated from North Davidson High School in 1956. Over her career she served as Clerk of Court in South Orange, NJ and was the Financial Secretary at Ardmore Baptist Church in Winston-Salem for over 25 years. Susan had a passion for traveling and visited 48 states as well as London, England; Paris, France; Brugges, Belgium and Amsterdam, Netherlands.
Susan lived a life full of caring for others and was deeply loved by her family. In addition to being called “Grammy,” she also earned several affectionate nicknames, including: Gamoe, Gahmo, Pete, Petite, Gameet, Hogsmeade, Buca-di-Bepo, /Nana, Yo Lady! Used-to-be-Susan, Green Bean Queen, Nibbler, I’ve-seen-them-all, Wendy’s (which is spoken all in one breath).
Susan is survived by her daughter, DeAnnah Hunter (Bret) of Cary NC, and her two grandchildren, Katie Baker and Carson Baker. Also surviving are her two sisters Ann Martin and Marty Harrelson and her brother Danny Livengood (Jane) ~ all in the Winston-Salem area. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Glenn Livengood and Eleanor Kirkman Livengood and her sister Judy Futrell.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Susan’s honor this Spring to joyfully celebrate Susan and the life she lived so well.
