
Thomas Carpenter, 84, former Alpena, Michigan resident, died in Raleigh, North Carolina on Thursday, October 28, 2010. Tom was born on April 1, 1926, in Alpena, Michigan, to the late Oscar and Frances (Dulea) Carpenter. He was a World War II veteran and retired from Huron Portland Cement after nearly forty years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty (Goodrich) Carpenter, and two sons, Gerald Carpenter and Dale Carpenter; and his second wife, Georgene (Manning) Carpenter. Tom is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Sandy Carpenter of Cary, North Carolina; his grandson and wife, Matthew Carpenter and Lisa Moceri of Minneapolis, Minnesota; his granddaughter, Jeannine Carpenter of Chattanooga, Tennessee; and one sister and brother-in-law, Sally and Don Oliver of Black River.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 24, at 11:00 am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in Alpena, Michigan with Reverend Rolando Silva officiating. Visitation with the family will be at St. John’s at 10:00 am. Interment will follow immediately after the service at Holy Cross Cemetery. Brown-Wynne Funeral Home of Cary, North Carolina, is handling the arrangements.
