William Gene Boone

RALEIGH- William “Bill” Gene Boone of Raleigh, NC passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2015, at Transitions Life Care. Mr. Boone was born in Uriah, Alabama. He graduated from Monroe County High School, Troy State College (now Troy University), and received his Master’s Degree from the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa.

Mr. Boone spent his entire career with IBM where, with pride, he worked on the NASA Space Program in his early career.

Mr. Boone is preceded in death by his father, Daniel H. Boone (killed in WWII), his mother, Agnes Grissette Pouncey, and his step father, Charlie M. Pouncey.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Linda Jordan Boone; his sons, William Gene Boone, Jr. of Tampa, FL, and J. Darryl Boone and wife, Charlotte of Greensboro, NC; grandson, William L. Boone of Greensboro, NC; and his sisters, Mary Anne Pouncey of Brewton, AL, and Margaret Pouncey of Montgomery, AL.

The family will receive friends at their residence on Thursday, March 5, 2015 from 6 to 7 p.m. A memorial service will be held in Monroeville, AL at a time to be determined.

Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
