William Douglas (Doug) Vick

November 6, 1942 – April 2, 2012

William Douglas (Doug) Vick, of Cary, completed his 69 year journey through life on April 2, 2012 with the love and support of his immediate family. Although he loved his career and community, Doug was more devoted to his family. He was a loving and caring son, husband, father, grandfather, friend, brother, cousin and uncle.

Doug was born is Nash County, NC to the late Betty Williams Vick and Linwood Beal Vick. He was a graduate of Barton College and was employed with the Town of Cary as Director of Construction Management, retiring after twenty years of service.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Patricia Bryant Vick; daughter, Elizabeth Sloan; 2 grandchildren, Rachel and Casey Sloan; Doug’s adopted brother, John Crabtree all of Cary; 2 brothers, Dennis and Robert Vick; sister, Diane Vick all of Wilson; in-laws, Wilbur and Katherine Bryant of Elm City.

A funeral service will be held 1:00 pm Friday, April 6, 2012 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home Chapel, 200 SE Maynard Rd, Cary, NC 27511. Burial will follow the service at Hillcrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7:00-9:00 pm Thursday, April 5, 2012 at the funeral home.
